LagoonAdventures.com is a new website to help families share information about easy and accessible ways to experience nature in the Indian River Lagoon region.
The residents of east central Florida are blessed with an abundant access to parks, trails and wild places. Most families live just a few miles from the Indian River Lagoon. However, children in this region, like children across the country, are spending less time playing outside, which has been found to have serious physical and emotional implications.
There is a national movement afoot to help families spend more quality time in the great outdoors and to encourage children to play outside. Here in Brevard County a coalition of partners is helping children get back to nature, including:
- Brevard Public Schools
- Brevard County Parks and Recreation
- Brevard Zoo
- Coastal Charities
- FLORIDA TODAY
- Health First
- St. John's River Water Management District
These organizations are working to give families the tools and incentives they need to experience all that the Indian River Lagoon region has to offer.
Funding for this site is provided by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences.
Site design and development by Eduweb.
