Last summer I went on a sea turtle walk. It was a wonderful experience and I was lucky enough to witness a loggerhead lay her eggs on the beach. Nesting season started May 1st and goes till October 31st. There are three different species of sea turtles that use Florida’s coast line as their chosen nesting sight. The largest sea turtle, the leatherback, the green sea turtle, who got its name by the color of its fat tissue, and the loggerhead. The loggerhead, however, is the most common sea turtle in Florida, and if you are interested in your own sea turtle adventure, it is the one you will hopefully see on your walk. The female loggerhead doesn’t have it easy. Weighing around 300lbs she has to walk onto shore, dig a hole with her back flippers, deposit her eggs, and then journey all the way back to the ocean. After two months of incubation it’s the baby sea turtles turn to venture out of the nest and make their way to the ocean. The turtles that make it to adulthood are believed to return to the same beach they were born, to start a whole new cycle. It is a truly amazing sight to see, and I am planning on another trip this summer. Hope to see you there!

I've been wanting to see this since I moved to Florida 8 years ago! I'm hoping that this will finally be the season that I get to go! :D
When I was in 5th grade, I was walking down the beach and got to watch two nests hatch! It was such an amazing and unforgettable experience!! I would love to go again, and bring my friends! Thanks for the info Izzy!
